Gum Recession Treatment in Fort Myers
Treatment for Receding Gums
Gum recession causes teeth to be more prone to decay and increases sensitivity to hot and cold, resulting in pain while eating and drinking. Gum recession also ages a person’s face, making you look older than you really are.
Dr. Reyes-Viruet can easily and gently treat gum recession, protecting the health of the teeth, making you look younger and eliminating sensitivity.
Effective Gum Recession Treatment
For isolated cases of recession, Dr. Reyes-Viruet will use traditional gum grafting techniques to regenerate lost tissue. In fact, she uses the patient’s own tissue, saying it’s the gold standard of grafting because it’s the longest-lasting material and does not resorb.
Chao Pinhole® Technique
In cases where multiple areas of recession exist, Dr. Reyes-Viruet performs the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique, which does not require grafting, scalpels or stitches. A small hole is made in the gums and the tissue is loosened and pulled down to cover the exposed roots. With pinhole, large areas can be treated quickly with minimal post-treatment discomfort.
In addition to being a very fast and minimally invasive treatment, the results are predictable and stable. Many cases have shown that the Pinhole Surgical Technique can effectively restore full gum coverage for several years after treatment.
Benefits of Gum Recession Treatment
In addition to improved aesthetics, having gums that properly cover the roots of your teeth is very important for your overall dental health. The roots of your teeth are softer and more sensitive to damage and decay than your harder, more durable tooth enamel. Proper root coverage not only protects your roots but provides needed structural support for your teeth as well.
Dr. Reyes-Viruet offers a free screening for gum disease.
